VOTING is under way for people to choose the winner of the prestigious Dudley Mayor’s award to be announced in May.

Mayor, Cllr Alan Finch has chosen for groups or people for the shortlist for the award and members of the public are being urged to log on and vote for the winner.

The nominees are: John Deane – Royal Air Force Association (Dudley), Paul Gough from Priory Boxing Club, FAST AID Black Country and Apni Zaroorat Community Network from Lye.

Councillor Alan Finch, Mayor of Dudley, said: “I have met some incredible people in my duties as Mayor of Dudley and it was very difficult selecting just four for the Mayor’s award. I am delighted to be able to take the opportunity to celebrate the work they do in this borough through the Mayor’s Civic Awards, but it is up to the people who wins the award and I urge you to go and vote for the one you feel most deserves the Mayor’s award.”

Public nominations for the six other categories for the Mayor’s Civic Awards in association with Cougar Monitoring have now closed, and the winner will be announced in April at a glittering awards ceremony.

People can vote for their winner of the Mayor’s award via www.dudley.gov.uk/civicawards until Monday March 9.
