VETERANS are celebrating after securing a £2,500 donation from a special concert with the Mayor of Dudley and an award winning choir.

The Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir raised the money from their Festival and Remembrance at Dudley Concert Hall last year.

The night, which was supported by Dudley Council, aimed to raise money for charity as part of a series of special events to mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.

The Mayor, cllr Alan Finch, joined the choir to hand over the money to the Royal British Legion as part of their poppy appeal, taking the local poppy fundraising total to almost £40,000.

Keith Moss, chairman of the Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir, said: “We’re hugely grateful to everyone who supported the Festival of Remembrance and helped raise this fantastic total. The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal is such a worthy cause and we are pleased we have been able to boost the total.”

Cllr Finch added: “We were really pleased to be able to support the Festival of Remembrance and I am delighted that so much money has been raised for such a worthy cause.”
