SEDGLEY based Beacon Centre has been boosted by the efforts of cyclists Graham Hodson and Mel Perry who have spent the week pedalling their way around all the major football grounds in the North West of England.

The intrepid pair, who are both longstanding football referees are attempting to raise around £4,000 which will go towards the JW Hunt Cup and Stourbridge based Max Appeal.

They took in grounds across North Wales, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire and Staffordshire before returning home.

It included trips to Chester, Liverpool, Everton, Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers, Stockport County, Manchester United, Manchester City, Stoke City, Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra Money raised through the JW Hunt Cup goes towards supporting the Beacon Centre while Max Appeal helps families dealing with DiGeorge Syndrome, which is a genetic disorder that causes heart defects.
