BLACK Country people planning an Easter getaway are being urged to stay safe by air ambulance medics.

Flying lifesavers say they see a rise in call-outs over the bank holiday weekend with more traffic leading to more collisions.

Holiday fun can also end in disaster with burn injuries at barbecues and accidents related to sports including swimming, horse riding, hill walking and climbing.

Becky Tinsley, air operations manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Naturally we all want to make the most of the long Easter weekend, and while we’d encourage people to have a good time, we’re also asking the public to consider their safety and that of others.”

Midlands Air Ambulance carries out over 2,000 missions each year, each mission costs the charity approximately £2,500. The charity is funded entirely by donations.
