THE Mayor of Dudley’s charity fund got a tuneful top up after at £3,500 donation from an award-winning choir.

Outgoing mayor, Cllr Alan Finch, got a sensational swansong gift from The Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir who handed over the cash at a civic reception.

The choir raised the money at a series of sell-out concerts to support the mayor’s chosen charities - are White House Cancer Support, Dudley, and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Cllr Finch said: “I am really grateful to the choir and everyone who has helped raise this enormous total for my chosen charities.

“Charity is something that is very close to my heart and as a community council we are all working hard to raise as much money as possible for these very worthwhile causes.”

Gentlemen Songsters chairman, Keith Moss, added: “As a choir we do a lot of work to help a number of charities throughout the year. We have a long and happy tradition of helping the Mayor of Dudley’s charities, and I am glad the money will go a long way to helping them continue their excellent work.”
