A 23-YEAR-OLD man was killed when the car he was in smashed into a garden wall in Netherton.
The tragedy happened in St Peters Road at around 9.20pm last night (Tuesday June 3), the dead man was a passenger in a Nissan Skyline car.
The driver, a man aged 28, was taken to hospital with chest injuries and a fractured jaw.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Crews arrived to find a car which had collided with a wall. The front seat passenger, a man, was in cardiac arrest and was being given CPR by members of the public.
“The ambulance staff worked as a team to continue CPR on the man, administering advanced pre hospital treatment. Sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead on scene.
“The driver of the car was given oxygen, pain relief and carefully immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board before being taken on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency treatment.”
Police investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses to contact West Midlands Police Collision Investigation Unit by calling 101.
