THE thought of cycling from Brierley Hill to Rio may be daunting for some, but not for a group of legal eagles, who took to the saddle to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust.

Two teams from Higgs & Sons went head to head on exercise bikes in the atrium of the firm’s headquarters at the Waterfront Business Park, to see who could clock up enough miles to reach the destination first.

But it wasn't the Brazilian city they were aiming for, it was the former Manchester United skipper, Rio Ferdinand's house in the north of England.

Honor Giles, a trainee lawyer at the firm, helped organise the event, which saw 19 members of staff take part.

She said: “The event was lots of fun and we raised £1,022 on the day for the Prince’s Trust.

“Brazilian themed cakes were on sale throughout the day and we finished the race with a drinks celebration.

"In total, both teams cycled more than 250 miles each, with the partners’ team winning by just 0.4 miles in the allotted time.”
