PEOPLE across the borough can sneak a peek behind the scenes at Himley Hall during a series of guided tours.

Visitors can follow in the footsteps of royal visitors during summer tours running throughout July, August and September.

Parts of the house normally closed off to visitors will be available to view including servants’ quarters to the cellars, the butler’s sitting room and the Earl of Dudley’s bedrooms.

The refurbished North Wing complete with Art Deco style swimming pool room and cinema bar can also be seen on the tours.

Councillor Hilary Bills, Dudley’s cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “Himley Hall has such a fascinating past, people are rightly drawn to its history. I’d urge people to come along to one of the tours and find out more about the history of this landmark hall.”

Tours, which cost £6.90 per person and include tea, coffee and biscuits, last around one-and-a-half-hours and start at 7.15pm and 7.30pm on July 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30, August 6, 13, 14, 19, 20, 27 and 28, and September 3, 4, 9 and 10.

Pre-booking is essential. Only 12 places are available on each tour. To book or for more details call Himley Hall on 01384 817817.
