BLACK Country theatre group The Fizzogs have become an internet sensation after a video of their comedy dance performance at Stourbridge Carnival was posted online.

Sue Hawkins, Deb Nicholls, Jacky Fellows and Emma Rollason went down a treat with the crowd at the carnival and first-ever Black Country Festival on Sunday when they donned their granny cardigans, glasses and wigs to perform a well-rehearsed dance routine from their Ode Folk show.

But footage of the Black Country stage stars acting up as OAPs - dancing to the likes of Beyonce’s Single Ladies and Gangnam Style - has since gone viral after it was posted online by fan Lucy Rutherford.

In a matter of days it has been shared more than 347,802 times on Facebook and has reportedly notched up 2.7 million likes!

Sue Hawkins, who started Fizzog Productions around 14 years ago with friends Deb and Jacky, said she couldn’t believe the attention the video has garnered from across the globe.

She said: “It’s just gone crazy. We’re having messages from all over America and all across the world. It’s just brilliant and it’s so touching when people say ‘you’ve made my day’.”

Sue, aged 42, from Wordsley, Deb, also 42, and from Wollaston, Jacky, aged 51, from Wombourne, and part-time Fizzog star Emma Rollason, aged 33 from Gornal, have been performing as Ode Folks - Lettie, Hilda, May and Ruby - for nearly a decade; and the dance routine that’s caused giggles around the globe was first put together around six years ago.

After proving a hit with theatregoers – it has been resurrected on numerous occasions at public events across the Black Country which the gang say they are “very, very proud” to be from.

To celebrate their love of the area, The Fizzogs will be performing at Brierley Hill Civic Hall this Saturday (July 12) as part of the Black Country Festival.

The one-off show will be compèred by Barbara Nice - aka former Coronation Street actress Janice Connolly - and it will be a prelude to a new Fizzogs tour which will take place later this year.
