A CLENT special school is looking for sporty supporters to help boost funds by taking on the Black Country Run.

The annual event, organised by Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club, includes a 5k fun run and a 10k race around Halesowen town centre.

Last year, the team running for Sunfield School, which supports youngsters with special needs, raised £4,800 to purchase two new minibuses and a seven-seater car, to take children on day trips and to medical appointments.

Money raised from this year's run, which will take place on September 21, will be spent on sports equipment, musical instruments and sensory resources.

Georgina Forrest, the school's partnership development manager, said: “We really hope local people will get involved and support our local cause, whether it be to run, walk or sponsor our team members so that we can achieve our target of £10,000.

"As a charity, fundraising and community support is vital to us as it enables us to purchase the many things not covered by Government funding.”
