A TRIO of Dudley open spaces has been awarded prestigious Green Flag status for being among Britain’s best.

Priory Park and Wren’s Nest Nature Reserve, as well as Netherton Park, got their awards from charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The parks will now be able to fly the flag to show they are a maintained to the highest standards – and make their neighbours green with envy.

Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd, said: “A Green Flag Award provides national recognition for the hard work and dedication of all the parks managers, staff and volunteers who have helped to create these fantastic places for all to enjoy.”

Meanwhile, the Friends of Buffery Park are running summer holiday sports sessions every week for young people.

Sessions run from 2pm to 4pm, on Tuesdays youngsters will get football coaching, on Wednesdays it will be tennis and cardio fitness, Thursdays is cricket and Friday’s session will be gym training and team building.

Sessions will run until Thursday August 28, people should meet at the Paradise Centre at the park ten minutes before sessions begin.
