DUDLEY South MP Chris Kelly has today announced he will stand down after one term in Parliament.

Mr Kelly will not contest next year's general election and a new Prospective Parliamentary Candidate will be selected and announced by the Conservative Party in the coming months.

The outgoing MP said: "I would like to thank all those who have supported me since I was selected for Dudley South in September 2007.

"I would especially like to thank all those who voted for me at the general election in May 2010 and all of the friends and supporters who helped me for that election, as well as those who have supported my efforts since."

"I am proud to have served the good people of Dudley South for the past five years."

I'm not sure what Chris's achievements were. The only thing I remember about him as our MP was when he first got elected the press ran a story about how his first priority was to get his sister a post working as an MPs secretary. http://www.stourbrid

Still, his Labour predecessor, Ian Pearson never seemed to do anything for the constituency either !
