DUDLEY Borough’s first citizen is set to lead borough tributes to the nation’s Battle of Britain heroes.

Cllr Margaret Aston is calling on people to join her for a service and parade in honour of ‘The Few’ in Dudley town centre on Sunday September 21.

Members of the Air Training Corps will parade and lay a wreath at the cenotaph in Ednam Road and the day’s events will also include a service at St Thomas and St Luke’s Church (Top Church).

Cllr Aston, said: “This is a real opportunity for people of all ages to come out and show their support for the people who fought and died in the Battle of Britain.

“We have a very strong armed forces community in the borough and it is important we all take a small amount of time on the day to say thank you for everything they do.”

The Air Training Corps will gather in Priory Road and parade through the town centre just before 11am taking the route along Priory Street, Stone Street and High Street to Top Church.

The service at St Thomas and St Luke’s Church will begin at 11.30am. This will be followed be a parade past the Council House in Priory Road, where the Mayor and a representative from RAF Cosford will receive a salute before the service at the cenotaph.
