GREEN-fingered Netherton residents have described themselves as "flushed with success" after receiving £500 to improve their allotment .
The grant from the Netherton neighbourhood policing team came as a relief to regulars at the Darby End Road Allotments, as they will use the cash to install toilet facilities.
Money from the West Midlands Polices Property Act fund now means a day of planting and pruning isn’t interrupted by a dash back home when nature calls.
It has also allowed the facility to be open to local school children to promote healthy living and self-sufficiency.
PCSO Jo Cooper said: "Our team has seen first-hand the determination and dedication of members of the Darby End Tenants and Residents Association in transforming this site, so we’re delighted to be a part of this and assist in any way we can.
"For over 30 years the site was disused, at least that was until members of the association rolled up their sleeves and got cracking. Between them they raised over £20,000 to rejuvenate the site and it is now a thriving allotment and place of sanctuary for many."
