CAMPAIGNERS have arranged a public meeting to discuss long standing issues relating to road safety in Sedgley.

Northway Action Group for Road Safety (NAG4RS) formed last month to lobby for improvements on Northway.

Due to the sllightly hilly and winding nature of the road, the group say it is unsuitable for commercial traffic and have called on Dudley Council to take action.

The group has sent a letter to John Millar, the council's director of the urban environment requesting an immediate ban on the use of Northway by construction site traffic from the nearby housing development at Baggeridge.

Group spokesman Tony North said: "A large number of heavy goods vehicles carrying construction materials are seen daily and mud is already being transferred onto the road.

"The presence of any HGV is a worry, especially in the vicinity of Alder Coppice School, a noticeably congested area at school peak times."

Anyone with concerns relating to road safety in the area is invited to the meeting, which will take place at The Cabin pub, Northway, from 8pm on March 18.
