COPS have launched a new appeal for witnesses to a crash which left a man injured at a busy road junction in Sandwell.

The incident took place at 6.50am on Sunday February 16 in Walsall Road at Stonecross Island.

A 30-year old man was driving his grey Ford Focus along Walsall Road, near to Sandy Lane, when his car was hit by a blue Audi A4.

The Audi failed to stop, but the man whose car was hit followed the vehicle and caught up with the driver on the Walsall Road traffic lights, near to Stonecross Island. He parked in front of the Audi, got out and went to speak to the other motorist.

As he grabbed the driver’s door, the Audi driver reversed his car and made off towards Newton Road, while the man was still holding the handle.

The man suffered cuts and bruising to his hand and body as a result of being dragged.

PC Sarah Russell from Smethwick’s violent crime team, said: “We are hoping to trace the driver of this Audi, vehicle registration X768 JUK, which deliberately reversed and sped off, causing the injuries to the man. The incident took place at a busy junction and I am asking anyone who saw what happened to call police on 101."
