PUPILS at Highgate Primary School welcomed West Bromwich Albion's mascot for a sponsored penalty shoot out which raised £2,400.
The team's mascot Baggie Bird turned up at the Highgate Road school to take part in the event, which saw every child taking three penalty shots at the mascot in goal.
Each child was sponsored to take part in the event, with various prizes given for amounts raised.
Children who raised £25 were awarded an Umbro football and those who raised £50 were given a free three-day training pass to train at WBA.
Any child who raised more than £100 was given a football and a training pass.
Medals were also awarded to the child who raised the highest amount in every class, and the person who raised the most money throughout the whole school was given a Albion football shirt, signed by first team players.
The money raised from the event was split between the West Bromwich Albion community project and school funds.
School spokesperson Amanda Payne said: "It was absolutely brilliant.
"It was so much fun, the children all had their photos taken with Baggie Bird and even the staff got involved.
"We all had a brilliant time."
