PEOPLE of all ages and abilities across the Black Country are invited to push the boat out and have a go at sailing and windsurfing next month.
Dudley, Himley Hall and Sandwell Valley will be among hundreds of sailing clubs nationwide giving families the chance to get out on the water as part of Royal Yachting Association Push the Boat Out events between May 9 and 17.
Open days, have-a-go sessions and family fun events are all taking place as part of the initiative - with many of the events absolutely free.
Gareth Brookes, RYA regional development officer for the Midlands, said: “All of our clubs and centres run accessible, affordable and inclusive activities for all, regardless of age, gender, background or experience.
“These events are an incredible opportunity for local people to discover what sailing and sailing clubs are really like, and enjoy a fantastic, social outdoor sport where everyday life really does get left on the shore.”
People who wish to take part in sessions are advised to wear warm clothes, soft soled shoes and waterproof jackets, with other equipment being provided by and the clubs.
Booking is essential for some of the activities, to find out more, visit www.rya.org.uk/go/ptbo.
