TIVIDALE manager Ian Long has welcomed a decision by the Football Association to grant the club an independent ground inspection.

The club is facing demotion from the Northern Premier League Division One South after initial findings deemed that The Beeches didn't make grade D status.

However, the club sent a delegation to the FA's headquarters at Wembley today to appeal the decision.

A PGA coach who has introduced countless youngsters to golf through his links with Worcestershire and Black Country schools has been recognised with a top national award from England Golf.

Gareth Snelgrove, from Hagley Golf Club, was presented with the Talent Pathway Award at a gala dinner at England Golf’s annual conference at the Hinckley Island Hotel, in Leicestershire.

Battling Studley picked up their first win in the Midlands Football League Division One in three months as they edged out Alvis Sporting 1-0 on Saturday.

Shane Brassington's second half strike saw the Bees brought a much-needed smile to the fans, who have seen their dismantled after the exit of former boss Adrian Mander.

Since then, Studley have been forced to sign almost player available to ensure they fulfil their fixtures until the end of the season.
