A MOTORCYCLIST suffered a serious chest injury following a crash with a car in Bromsgrove.

The accident happened at the junction of Kidderminster Road and Perryfields Road at around 5.10pm on Saturday afternoon (May 23).

The crash cause the rider to be thrown off his bike, which was also badly damaged. The driver of the car was not injured.

Paramedics and the Midland Air Ambulance were called to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a male motorcyclist who had come off his bike following a collision with a car. The bike had suffered significant damage in the incident.

“Following assessment, the man, believed to be in his 30s, was treated for a serious chest injury and also given assistance with his breathing.

"He was then taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, by land ambulance, for further treatment. Thankfully, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

“Due to the location of the incident, it was deemed quicker to travel by road than air.

“The driver of the car, a man, was assessed and discharged at scene.”
