BOROUGH residents are being urged to ‘make a connection’ to fostering as this year’s foster care fortnight is about to kick off.
Dudley Council’s fostering service is asking people to spread the word about childcare during Fostering Network’s two week event, which runs from Monday June 1 to Friday June 14.
The make a connection theme aims to help fostering services connect Dudley’s looked after children with new foster carers.
Councillor Ian Cooper, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “We’re always looking for new foster carers from all different backgrounds.
“Fostering is one of the best jobs in the world; no other job allows you to make such a difference in a child’s life.
“I really hope borough residents can help us spread the message that we’re looking for new foster families, especially if they know someone who might be great at the job.”
Anyone interested in fostering can also attend one of the service’s new ‘Fostering Friday’ drop in sessions which are being held every Friday from June 5 at Flipside House between 1pm and 4pm.
People can also find out more about fostering by emailing fosteringrecruitment@dudley.gov.uk visiting www.dudley.gov.uk/fostering or calling the service on 01384 815833.
