DUDLEY South MP Ian Pearson is warning residents to be aware of a new scam targeting their doorsteps.
Des Cox from Dudley Wood received a letter informing him he had won a large amount of money in the Spanish Lottery.
The letter informed him that to collect the money he would have to complete his personal details, including his bank account and phone number.
Mr Cox contacted Mr Pearson immediately to make others aware of the scam.
Mr Cox said: "This isn't the first time I have had letters like this and letting Ian know seemed like the best course of action to ensure that other people are made aware before they lose their money."
Dudley South MP Ian Pearson said: "As Des says we can all receive these type of letters which are sent to prey on the vulnerable.
"I want to thank him for letting me know.
"I have contacted trading standards locally and will be making colleagues aware of this particular scam."
He added: "I just want remind people that no reputable company will ever send unsolicited mail asking for bank details and the best advice I can give is throw it in the bin."
