A NEW book will give readers a fascinating insight into the lives of 27 Black Country men.

Black Country Man is a specially commissioned publication which features real life accounts of the men’s lives – following their ups and downs through the years, growing up, working and growing old in the Black Country.

The book, which has been produced by local company Multistory, tells stories about the decline of production and manufacturing in the region.

Along with tales from school days, reflections on troubled times, political unrest and celebratory events that took place in the Black Country.

The book is complete with interesting photographic illustrations, showcasing a mixture of historic and contemporary images.

People are invited to the book launch at Dudley Archives Centre, Tipton Road, where they will hear the story behind the book and learn about life gone by in the Black Country.

The event takes place on Tuesday (July 28) at 2.30pm.

The book will be sold at a specially reduced rate at the event.

Councillor Rachel Harris, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “It’s a real treat to hear about the fascinating stories and memories from local men in our region. The event is an opportunity to learn about the history of our local area and to own a copy of this intriguing book.”
