YOUNG goalkeeper Alex Palmer is aiming to make up for lost time at Kidderminster Harriers.

The 18-year-old has recovered from a small thigh injury which saw him miss the last two weeks of pre-season.

Palmer returned to parent club West Bromwich Albion to receive treatment after agreeing a deal to play for his home town club in June.

But Palmer, who still lives in Spennells, will be hoping to make his presence felt in Kidderminster's remaining pre-season games in preparation for the Vanarama National League.

Cradley ace Arron Mogridge is looking to make up for lost time when he starts a busy August at reserve in the crucial speedway clash with Birmingham.

Mogridge has suffered a sticky spell with a loss of confidence and will be relegated to the bottom two of the side by Ellis Perks.

He makes his first appearance in the crucial lower order slot against runaway leaders Birmingham on August 5.

Now he’s hoping to start piling up the points and play a crucial role as the Heathens chase National League glory.

Mogridge said: “It’s been a rough few weeks for me, I’ve not been scoring very well and I’ve been well aware I’ve been underperforming."

Stourbridge welterweight champion Sam Eggington says he never thought he’d be capable of winning a British title when his fight career began.

But ‘The Savage’ did just that when he handed Glenn Foot his first defeat as their contest in Manchester last Saturday night was halted in the ninth due to a bad cut above Foot’s left eye.

The clash saw Eggington soon begin to dominate as his superior reach took its toll.

Scorecards confirmed the Stourbridge man’s dominance when the fight was halted. Eggington was well ahead with the judges scoring it 80-71, 80-72 and 79-72.

It means the 21-year-old has added the British Welterweight title to his Commonwealth belt to continue a stunning rise up the boxing ranks.

“I still can’t believe it,” he said. “I never expected to be winning big titles when I came into the sport so it really is a dream."
