In other news - a 20-year-old Kingswinford man who took part in a car-jacking, which saw a young woman run over after being dragged from her vehicle, has been jailed or nearly five years.

Richard Halford and his accomplice lured the victim to a meeting to discuss a debt, but the victim escaped serious injury as she unsuccessfully tried to stop them getting away with the car.

A Brierley Hill businessman who pocketed nearly £70,000 selling counterfeit DVDs over the internet has been ordered to pay back every penny of his ill-gotten gains.

Simon Newby was previously jailed for 16 months after admitting 14 charges relating to breaches of registered trademarks.

But he faces another two years behind bars if he fails to come up with the money in three months.

Readers of the Kidderminster Shuttle readers moved by Louisa Sewell stealing a pack of Mars bars to feed herself after her benefits were stopped have raised £15,298 in seven days.

A crowdfunding campaign was set up to help the 32-year-old, of Comberton Road, Kidderminster, to pay her court fines after she pleaded guilty to the theft at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on August 6, but it seems more than a few people wanted to help.
