A BRIERLEY Hill teenager has been left devastated after a dog she was given following the tragic death of her brother has gone missing.

Dana Al-Shaikh, 12, of Madison Avenue, has suffered from depression after her brother Omar died of leukaemia in June.

The Thorns Community College pupil was given the two-year-old white bichon dog – named Stella – by her mother last Friday.

Mirabella, Dana’s mum, said: “My daughter has been very depressed since Omar died, so I thought getting a dog from the animal shelter would cheer her up.

“When we brought Stella home she was very scared and traumatised, but Dana said ‘she’s just like us mum’.

“But yesterday - September 10 - I opened the front door of our house and the dog ran. I chased her into the street but no-one did anything to help.

“People were sitting in the middle of the street and didn’t stop to look. Nobody cared or could tell me which way she went.

“I chased her as far as I could, but it came to a point where I didn’t know which way she went. I don’t know where she is and I don’t know what I can do to get her back.

“My daughter is devastated. Stella has been the one thing which stopped her being depressed.”
