CREATIVE students at Ellowes Hall Sports College are trying their hand at digital art thanks to a £30,000 grant.
The cash was used to buy 52 tablets and two A3 colour photocopiers with scanning facilities, which youngsters will use to create an online portfolio.
A selection of their work will also be displayed in the school's virtual art gallery - a venture that will be created and maintained as a result of the new resources.
Tricia Strachan, head of art, said the new equipment would have “a tremendous impact on all students", particularly those studying art as one of their GCSEs or A levels.
Headteacher Alan Jasper said he was said he was "very grateful" for the grant from The Wolfson Foundation’s Secondary Education Programme, which supports the teaching of A level and GCSE subjects in high-achieving state-funded schools and sixth form colleges.
He added: “The inclusion of digital art will provide an innovative challenge to our GCSE and A level arts students as well as effective preparation for their further studies and future careers."
