SOME of the biggest names in the music business were in Birmingham last night for the BBC Music Awards.

Ellie Golding, Jess Glynne, Stereophonics, Little Mix, OMI and James Bay performed at the star-stuffed bash hosted by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton at the Genting Arena.

Adele was the big winner of the night, taking the awards for Best Live Performance and Best British Artist.

Taylor Swift picked up the International Artist gong, beating off stiff competition from Prince, Foo Fighters, Major Lazer and The Weeknd.

Hozier also lost out to the Shake It Off star but the Irishman did pick up Song of the Year for his hit Take Me to Church, which he performed live with the BBC Concert Orchestra (watch below).

Jack Garratt was named as BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year Award and went on to prove why when he performed his breakthrough hit Worry.

Highlights of the night included One Direction, who opened the show with a bang, Faithless performing the classic dance anthem Insomnia and the legendary Rod Stewart closing the show with new hit Please and old favourite Sailing.
