A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found with fatal injuries at a house in Dudley.
Police were called to an address in Lodge Crescent, just after 4.30pm yesterday (Friday) following reports of disorder.
On arrival, officers found a 54-year-old woman with serious head injuries.
She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police have not yet confirmed the dead woman's identity but she has been named on social media as Jackie Abbott.
A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.
A 56-year-old local man was arrested at the scene and is currently helping police with enquiries.
Detective Inspector Justin Spanner from Force CID said: "At this stage police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
"Investigations are on-going and I would appeal to anyone who was in the Lodge Crescent area yesterday between midday and 4.30pm and heard or saw any signs of a disturbance to contact police on 101."
Members of the community have spoken of their shock about the death following the incident.
Tributes to the victim are already being paid, Gemma Soper posted on the Dudley News Facebook page: "Terrible news can't stop thinking of the kids such a lovely lady."
Lodge Crescent is eerily quiet this morning as people come to terms with the tragedy.
