THE Mayor of Dudley has raised £1,000 in online donations for his charities.

Councillor Steve Waltho opened the Mayor of Dudley’s Charities online facility via BT My Donate six months ago and has now received £1,000 from donors.

The system, set up with help from Castle & Crystal Credit Union, gives people chance to donate money at the click of a button via mobile phones, tablets, or laptops to help the Mayor’s chosen causes - The Hope Centre in Halesowen, Stourbridge’s What? Centre, Brierley Hill’s More Mascots Please, The Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund at Dudley’s Russells Hall Hospital, and the West Midlands branch of Lupus UK, in Coseley.

Cllr Waltho, Dudley’s Mayor, said: “I am so pleased people are choosing to help me raise funds for these deserving charities which are close to my heart.

“This Mayoral year is giving me the opportunity to significantly raise their profile and boost funding. Every penny that is donated is much appreciated by me.”
