NETHERTON woman Jacqueline Abbott was killed by her husband after an argument about tickets to a concert, an inquest heard.

Sandwell Coroners Court, sitting at Smethwick, heard that the 54-year-old was found dead at her home in Lodge Crescent on December 11 last year.

Her husband Paul Abbott, aged 56, was later charged with her murder.

Detective Sergeant Indi Basra told the inquest that police were called to the couples’ home at 4.30pm to reports that Paul Abbott was fighting in the street with his son Martyn.

He said when officers arrived Martyn had told them his dad had killed his mother.

Ds Basra said: "Officers went through the property to the back garden where the patio area where Jackie Abbott's body was found.

"She had extensive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene."

He said a hammer was found in the kitchen and added: "Paul Abbott fully admitted the offence and was charged with murder.

"He said Jackie had been away for a week and when she came back on the Friday, they were due to go out to see an Elvis Presley tribute band.

"They had had an argument as she had sold his ticket - he saw a hammer in the landing area and picked it up and struck her a couple of times."

The inquest was told that Paul Abbott is currently remanded in custody and due to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court to enter a plea on March 7.

Senior coroner for the Black Country, Zafar Siddique, adjourned the inquest pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
