A TEENAGER caught with a loaded revolver had threatened to blow a man's head off when he failed to cough up interest on a late drug deal payment.

Shaun Scott sold his victim a £10 bag of cannabis but because he took time handing over the money he was told he was "looking for a poking," which left him in fear of being stabbed.

Scott, of Westminster Close, Dudley, also told him he would "blow his head off" and went on to stress that the victim "did not know what he was carrying."

The frightened victim told police and when officers went to Scott's mother's home they found the loaded handgun inside a black bag in the garage.

Officers also found four rounds of ammunition inside the gun and a small amount of cannabis, Duncan Craig, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Scott, aged 19, admitted possessing a prohibited firearm, possessing ammunition, cannabis and harassment with intent to cause fear of violence.

William Dudley, defending, described Scott - a teen with 18 previous convictions on his criminal record - as "immature".

He told the court the offence had been committed out of "bravado" adding: "He does have a terrible record but he is not a violent man."

He said Scott had been quick to realise that if he carried on with this sort of offending he would find himself in a hospital - or in a cemetery.

Mr Dudley said that because of the late payment, Scott had told the victim he still owed him money because of interest and charges and "the debt had not been cleared".

Judge John Wait jailed Scott for five years and said he had to pass a sentence that would act as a deterrent for other people tempted to have guns in the future.

"People must know what to expect if they involve themselves with lethal weapons."
