PSYCHOLOGICAL aspects behind obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) will be discussed at an upcoming Dudley mental health trust forum.

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust will focus their discussions on the topic of OCD at their quarterly mental health forum on June 16.

The free event, which will take place between 11am and 2pm at Brierley Hill Civic Hall, is set to feature guest speakers from the trust discussing the signs and symptoms of the condition.

Stallholders from the local health community will also be onsite providing free resources, support and advice, as well as signposting to local services.

Olivia Clymer, a non-executive director of the trust, said: “There are a number of misconceptions about obsessive compulsive disorder which is one reason we have decided to focus our next forum on the topic.

“The anxiety-based condition goes far beyond regular hand washing or checking light switches; in fact, it can be so debilitating and disabling that the World Health Organisation has actually ranked OCD in the top ten of the most disabling illnesses of any kind, in terms of lost earnings and diminished quality of life.”

Due to the increasing popularity of the forums, where a free lunch will be provided, bookings are now required.
