A BLACK Country fundraising club has presented a high-tech piece of kit to the borough's main hospital that should make blood tests a more pain free experience.

The Kingswinford and Stourbridge Lions group has handed over a new Accuevin monitor worth more than £3,000 to Russells Hall Hospital which will help to prevent problems medical staff sometimes have when trying to find veins in which to insert needles.

Richard Styles, Kingswinford and Stourbridge Lions Club president, said: "This Accuvein monitor is a portable machine which highlights the veins and hopefully removes the problem.

"I was advised by Russells Hall how good this item was and how useful it would be, which is why I recommended that our Lions Club purchase one for the hospital."

He said the group, which handed over the machine on June 7, always tries to help local charities and buy equipment to benefit people in the borough - and he added: "We purchased a defibrillator for the Ryemarket in Stourbridge in February 2014 and this year the monitor which will hopefully help thousands of people in the future."

The group fundraises throughout the year by hosting various events including a big plant sale and touring its festive sleigh around the streets during December.
