A DYSLEXIC Dudley man has told how practising his writing led to him publishing his first book.

Ray Hall has achieved what most writers dream about and has had his debut novel This Is The Start Of My Story published despite having to battle issues with his reading and writing.

Having been trying to write for many years, the 50-year-old said how it was the advice of his friend that led him to the success of gaining a publisher and seeing his book on sale.

He said: "I am dyslexic and a good friend of mine said the best was to get better was by practising, so that's what I did.

"It does take time though. Where most people will write a sentence and move on, I have to write it and rewrite it and read through it four or five times to make sure it's right."

This Is The Start Of My Story is a fictional book telling the apocalyptic story of character Ray as he faces the realisation that he is not just a husband and a family man, that he is in fact a key character in the fight against the devil and his evil hoardes.

"Its a lot like a second coming that relates back to the past," Ray said. "It's full of conspiracy theories and facts, but it is a fictional story. It's like the apocalypse.

"It's got loads of twists and tales in it. It's got a funny twist to it at the end."

Released on January 28 of this year, Ray said he had not had "any negative feedback" and that his publishers, Olympia, had been very supportive of his work.

Ray, who lives near Priory Park, Dudley, is currently working on two more books, which he said could become part of a series with his debut novel or could be standalone books.

This Is The Start Of My Story by Ray Hall is available to by on Amazon.
