ASPIRING writers can get advice and guidance at Dudley library later this month.

The library will be hosting an interactive Q&A session with a panel of published authors and poets on Saturday, November 26.

They will be talking about the writing process and answering questions on working with publishers and agents during the session which runs from 10.30am to 1pm.

Guest speakers include authors Elizabeth Hanbury, Nell Dixon and Gemma Todd and poet Brenda Read-Brown.

Black Country author Nell Dixon was winner of the 2007 Romantic Novelists’ Association award for her novel ‘Marrying Max’ and the 2010 Love Story of the Year award for her novel ‘Animal Instincts’.

Gemma Todd, also from the Black Country works as a mobile librarian in the West Midlands. Her debut novel ‘Defender’ is being published by Headline in January 2017.

Elizabeth Hanbury combines humour, emotion, great characters, engaging plots and historical detail for her regency-set novels and short stories that appeal to a wide range of readers.

Poet Brenda Read-Brown is Gloucestershire Poet Laureate and trustee of the Ledbury Poetry Festival. She is a performance poet, multiple slam winner and writers of award winning one-act plays. She is also co-ordinator of Poetry on Loan, an organisation which promotes contemporary poetry through libraries in the West Midlands.

Councillor Rachel Harris, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “This is a fantastic networking event for aspiring writers. These talented, published writers will be providing invaluable advice and inspirational words for local people keen to develop their own skills in this field.”
