AFTER 88 years, borough artists are showcasing their talents at Dudley Museum for the last time.

More than 130 masterpieces are featured in Dudley Society of Artists' exhibition but as it will be the final one at the popular venue, it is tinged with sadness.

Terry Glazebrook, society chairman, said: "Since 1928, the annual exhibition at the museum has been the highlight of the society's year.

"To have an opportunity for members to exhibit their work to the general public, in a town centre venue, at reasonable cost was a great privilege."

Initially, Mr Glazebrook had feared it would be difficult to find an alternative venue for future exhibitions but was pleased to reveal that a number of options had recently presented themselves.

The free exhibition will run until December 22 - the day the museum doors will be shut for good and its treasures moved to the borough’s archives building in Tipton Road.
