COUPLES planning to tie the knot can get an inspirational start to 2017 with a wedding open day at Himley Hall.

The picturesque hall will open its doors on Sunday (January 22) from 11am to 4pm so lovers can look around the historic venue where royal newlyweds once took their honeymoon.

Himley Hall has three rooms that are licensed for civil weddings and partnership ceremonies.

The Pink Room, which was once the library of the Earls of Dudley, and the Green Room, originally the formal dining room, both overlook the hall’s terrace gardens with beautiful views towards the lake.

The smaller Oak Room has also become recently licensed and is ideal for intimate ceremonies.

Himley Hall’s wedding co-ordinators and catering team will be available to discuss the options available to couples on the day.

Registrars from the Staffordshire Registration Service will also be on hand to guide couples through the civil ceremony process.

Admission is free of charge but there is a small parking fee. Refreshments are available throughout the day.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member responsible for halls, said: “Himley Hall is a unique and beautiful place to get married and the packages on offer deliver tremendous value for money.

“The open day gives couples the opportunity to see the hall looking exactly as it does for ceremonies and the chance to meet the wedding team.”
