MOUSTACHIOED Dudley teenager Tyler Bate has tonight become the first ever WWE UK wrestling champion.

The 19-year-old from Netherton made history in Blackpool in a historic night which saw WWE legend Triple H crown him champion after winning the 16 man tournament.

The former Ormiston Forge Academy pupil was not favourite to win the championship but a surprise win in the semi-final against Wolfgang Young culminating with his signature Tyler Driver move had the crowd at the Empress Ballroom on their feet.

That set up a final with Tyler's former trainer Pete Dunne from Birmingham in the final. However, the final was in doubt after Dunne attacked Tyler with a chair tearing a muscle in his shoulder.

But the final, which would determine the American money-spinning WWE's first UK champion and a ticket to the big time, saw Tyler Bate fighting with a shoulder strap and in pain.

After being punished by his former mentor Bate delivered a bone-crushing pile driver slamming Dunne's head against the canvas leaving him prone on the floor. It was then a simple matter of the submission as the referee counted to three.

Amid bedlam outside the ring visibly shocked Tyler sat still repeating "I don't believe it."

WWE legend presented Bate with the championship belt before heading to back to USA on a private jet.

He said: "You just witnessed the beginning.

"At 19 years old, who doesn't think Tyler Bate is the future of this industry? Congratulations."

The first WWE superstar from the Black Country William Regal was also in the ring to congratulate the new champion saying "it was an incredible performance."

Tyler Bate, who wrestles under his real name, has had over 200 bouts since making his debut aged 15 and now will get the opportunity to star in huge wrestling shows in America which are watched by millions across the world.
