THE search for a Stourport man who has been missing for more than two months has ended in heartbreak as his body was found in the river.

Andy Cooper was last seen at his home in Stourport on Wednesday, January 4 but, after he didn’t turn up at work, a search began. But on Friday (March 17) at around midday, police were called to Holt Fleet where a body was recovered from the River Severn.

"ACTS of kindness" are not tackling the very serious issue of homelessness in Redditch. That is the stern verdict of borough councillor Mark Shurmer.

Council bosses recently launched a poster campaign, both online and across the town, which questions whether giving cash, refreshments and clothes to homeless people is actually helping them to get off the streets.

HALESOWEN and Rowley Regis MP James Morris has told Parliament the Black Country's industrial potential has to be unlocked in Brexit Britain.

In a debate about the recent budget James Morris MP said: “The Black Country and the West Midlands are too often talked about as though they are a relic of Britain’s industrial past, but that is wrong. The Black Country is increasingly in the vanguard of our industrial future.

BIRMINGHAM Metropolitan College, which runs campuses in Stourbridge and Brierley Hill, has been told to make further improvements following its latest Ofsted report.

The college received a 'requires improvement' rating in 2015 after a making a raft of redundancies to help solve the organisation's financial woes.

WAR-TIME buildings in the Lickey Hills will be the subject of £10,000 worth of research, thanks to a donation from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Lickey Hills Local History Society received the grant for its project Hidden Heritage of the Lickey Hills, to record and track the history of buildings on Bilberry Hill, which date back to the First World War.

STUDENTS from a Stourbridge theatre school graced the West End stage this week, performing in front of a 1,100-strong audience.

On Sunday, March 12, members of Stagecoach Performing Arts Stourbridge performed a medley of show stoppers including hits from Spirit of Fosse at London’s famous Her Majesty’s Theatre.
