PREGNANT mums are being encouraged to bond with their bumps at a free activity session being held at Dudley Library this week.

Parents-to-be have been invited to Bump, Baby and Beyond at the library on Friday (March 24) from 11am to 2pm, after research suggested pre-birth bonding strengthens relationships after the new arrival.

The Dudley event will help mums communicate with their imminent new arrivals through the medium of talking, rhyming and reading, while local charities, businesses and organisations will be showcasing their services to help parents get the best possible start for their babies.

For parents who already have other children, a number of activities will also be put on aimed at babies and young children, including singing, music sessions, as well as baby yoga.

The free event, where booking is not required, will also feature craft stalls, free goody bags, and a selection of sweet and savoury food to sample.

Councillor Rachel Harris, Dudley Council’s cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “This is a great event – a really super way for parents and babies to get together for a very enjoyable educational activity.”

The event and programme is being funded by The Association of Senior Children’s and Education Librarians (ASCEL).
