AWARD-winning actress Sheridan Smith is set to star in smash-hit musical Funny Girl when it comes to the Midlands this week.
Following critically acclaimed and record-breaking sold-out runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Savoy Theatre, Birmingham Hippodrome will play host to the show’s UK tour between Monday, May 8, and Saturday, May 13.
Funny Girl brought global fame to Barbra Streisand 50 years ago and boasts some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history, including ‘People’ and ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’.
This ‘iconic, legendary, laugh-out-loud’ (The Times) musical tells the story of Fanny Brice, played by Smith, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star.
Tickets for Birmingham Hippodrome’s production of Funny Girl, from £22, are available by calling the Box Office on 0844 338 5000, or visiting www.birminghamhippodrome.com
