THREE quarters of the original line-up of Bucks Fizz are to perform in Dudley next month.

Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston, now known as Formerly Of Bucks Fizz, will be taking to the stage at Dudley Town Hall on Thursday June 29 with special guest Bobby McVay.

The pop stars, along with fourth band member Bobby G, shot to fame nearly 40 years ago when they won the Eurovision Song Contest for the UK in Dublin in 1981 with their lively ditty Making Your Mind Up.

The song sold in excess of 15 million copies, reached number one in the charts in nine countries and spent 219 weeks in the UK charts.

Following its success, the band went on to release more than 20 singles over the next few years including two more number ones - My Camera Never Lies and Land Of Make Believe.

Peter Jordan, borough halls manager, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Cheryl, Mike, Jay and Bobby to Dudley.

“The band really captured the public imagination winning Eurovision – and we have only had one other winner since then. They are still thought of very fondly by a lot of people and still fantastic performers, so it promises to be a great night."

Tickets for the show, priced £23 plus booking fees, can be booked online at www.boroughhalls.co.uk or by calling 01384 812812.

Confirmation of the gig comes as Kiev prepares to host the 62nd annual Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine this Saturday (May 13).
