LIBRARIES across Dudley borough are rolling out a series of activities linked to an ‘Animal Agents’ theme as part of the summer reading challenge.

Youngsters can make spy binoculars, create radio gadgets, have a glitter tattoo, meet creatures from Dudley Zoo, take part in a minecraft workshop, make a secret book and take part in a Mario Kart gaming event during the summer holidays.

Most events are free and people can just drop-in, although some require booking in advance and have additional charges.

Brierley Hill Library (all run from 2pm until 3pm):

  • A bookable ‘Adventures in Minecraft’ with author Martin O’Hanlon on Wednesday, August 2.
  • Making a radio gadget on Tuesday, August 25, (ages 7+).
  • Making a secret agent kit on Tuesday, August 22.

Cradley Library:

  • A bookable Minecraft workshop on Thursday, August 17, from 2.30pm until 4pm.

Dudley Library:

  • Adventures in Minecraft (bookable) with author Martin O’Hanlon on Friday, July 28, from 2pm to 3pm.
  • Freestyle footballing on Wednesday, August 16, from 10am to 11am.

Gornal Library:

  • Visit from Dudley Zoo creatures from 11am to noon on Thursday, August 10.
  • A radio gadget-making session on Thursday, August 31, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm (ages 7+).

Halesowen Library:

  • Make a radio gadget on Friday, August 11, from 11am to noon (ages 7+).
  • Spheros robot ball coding on Monday, August 14, from 2pm to 3pm (bookable session).
  • Tom Palmer quiz and football shootout on Thursday, July 27, from 2pm - 3pm (ages 7+, booking essential).
  • Mario Kart gaming event on Saturday, September 2, from 1.30pm – 3.30pm for which there is a charge of £3.50.

Kingswinford Library:

  • Make a craft every Thursday during the holidays from 2pm to 3pm.
  • Minecraft workshop on Tuesday, August 15, from 10.30am to noon (bookable session)
  • Ozobots session on Tuesday, August 29, from 2pm to 3pm.

Long Lane Library:

  • Visit from Dudley Zoo critters on Monday, August 14, from 11am to noon.
  • Bookable stop-motion animation session on Tuesday, August 22, from 11am to noon.

Lye Library:

  • Day-long drop in crafts on Thursday, July 27, Friday, August 4, and Saturday, August 26.
  • A bookable Minecraft workshop on Thursday, August 17, from 10.30am to noon.

Netherton Library:

  • Takeaway crafts throughout the summer holiday.

Sedgley Library:

  • Make a turtle crafts on Monday, August 7, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
  • A radio gadget workshop (ages 7+) on Wednesday, August 16, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
  • Visit from residents of Dudley Zoo on Tuesday, August 22, from 11am to noon.

Stourbridge Library:

  • A SEN spy snake craft session for SEN children and their families on Saturday, July 29, from 10.15am to 11.15am.
  • Make animal masks on Tuesday, August 8, from 11am to noon.
  • KNEX making on Thursday, August 10, from 2pm to 3pm.
  • A bookable Microbits session on Thursday, August 24, from 11am to noon.
  • Jungle animal crafts on Wednesday, August 30, from 2pm to 3pm.

Wordsley Library:

  • Reading challenge craft sessions every Wednesday from 2pm to 3pm.
  • Origami craft (ages 7+) on Wednesday, August 9, from 2pm to 3pm.
  • Make electric paint robot cards (bookable) on Wednesday, August 30, from 11am to noon.
