DUDLEY Town FC have presented the borough's first citizen with his own special Robins shirt.

Club chairman Stephen Austin met the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler, at the Mayor’s Parlour, on Friday (July 28).

The mayor was presented with an official Black Country Training Group (BCTG) sponsored shirt and has agreed to sign up as a Friend of Dudley Town.

As a friend of the club, cllr Tyler will donate £1 per week to the club, which will entitle him to free entry to all home league games at the Dell Stadium as well as a quarterly newsletter.

Stephen said: “It’s great to see the mayor in a Dudley Town shirt, we’ve had incredible support from the previous mayor and the wider community", adding: "The continued support from BCTG’s is helping us go from strength to strength.”

Dudley North MP Ian Austin, a long-time supporter of the club, who has worked closely with BCTG in the past and brought the two together, also dropped by.

He said: "It’s great that the mayor is showing his support for Dudley Town.

“I hope to see him down the Dell as soon as possible practicing his football skills.”
