TWO Pensnett roads will close for two weeks while a water main is diverted.

Birds Meadow and Bradley Street will be shut at the junctions with High Street from Monday (August 14).

The water main is being diverted as part of the £6.3 million road improvement scheme, currently under way.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, Dudley's cabinet member for environmental services, said: “We ask motorists to bear with us while work to divert the water main is carried out. It is due to be completed within two weeks.”

The diversion for Bradley Street will be via High Oak and High Street and access to Birds Meadow will be via High Street and Tansey Green Road The road improvement scheme iwill see two new sets of traffic lights put up on High Street at the junctions of High Oak and Tansey Green Road to ease congestion and make it safer for turning traffic.

The road will be widened along the High Street for two lanes to be introduced in both directions at the new traffic lights, while there will also be additional pedestrian crossings.

Bradley Street will be closed to through traffic to improve visibility and safety for motorists and pedestrians. Birds Meadow and Tansey Green Road are to be made left turn out only, to improve visibility and safety for motorists and pedestrians.
