THERE are “no plans” to introduce same-sex couples to Strictly Come Dancing, the BBC has said.

It comes as contestant the Rev Richard Coles argued it made “no sense” that anyone would resist having dancers of the same gender taking to the floor together in the hit programme.

Coles, who was one half of the 1980s band the Communards, is in a same-sex marriage and is among the 15 contestants taking part in this year’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing, which started on Saturday.

NOEL Gallagher led a crowd of 14,000 at the Manchester Arena in a rendition of Oasis classic Don’t Look Back In Anger as the venue re-opened for the first time since a deadly terror attack claimed 22 lives.

The hit became a song of unity in the wake of the bombing after a crowd started spontaneously singing it at a memorial event.

Gallagher led the singing on stage as thousands attending the charity re-opening of the venue.  Other stars on the bill included Pixie Lott, The Courteeners and Rick Astley, while comedian Peter Kay returned to the arena where he once worked as a steward.

EASTENDERS stars Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald are leaving the soap, the BBC has confirmed.

The duo, who play sisters Lauren and Abi Branning, have been staple characters in the BBC One show.

Fitzgerald, whose character Abi told Steven Beale she was pregnant with his baby seconds before he died on Friday’s episode, joined the soap 11 years ago.

TAKE That star Mark Owen suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction while performing a retro dance routine to one of the band’s 90s hits in London’s Hyde Park.

Owen and bandmates Gary Barlow and Howard Donald were showing off their original moves to their 1992 hit Could It Be Magic when his tight black trousers with a white feather pattern, which he wore with a matching shirt, split in the crotch area.
