GORNAL Athletic boss Matt Fisher has organised a charity football match to raise cash for 4Louis.

The charity, which supports families who have lost a child, provided Matt and his partner Melisa with a memory box when their daughter was stillborn in July.

The box, which contained a variety of keepsakes, gave the heartbroken couple some comfort as it meant they were able to create lasting memories of baby Erin.

Touched by the charity's generosity, the couple decided they wanted to do organise a fundraiser to give something back.

Matt has made use of his contacts in the footballing world and organised a charity match at Garden Walk Stadium on Sunday (September 17).

A West Midlands Legends team, including Walsall's Ian Roper, will take on the Matt Fisher 11 - a team consisting of the football boss' family, friends and players that he has encountered throughout his career.

Matt, who wished to thank Gornal Athletic's chairman Kevin Williams for supporting the event, said there was still time for players to get in on the action and anyone wishing to play for his team should call him on 07557272332.

The match will kick off at 2pm but players will be arriving from 1pm to meet fans and sign autographs.

Before the game gets under way, pink and blue balloons will be released into the air during a minute's silence.

"This event isn't just about our baby," Matt said.

"It is in memory of all babies born sleeping."

Anyone wishing to watch the charity match will be asked to pay a £2 admission fee, with all proceeds going to 4Louis.
