OLDER people can reminisce, relax and craft during a free activity day in Brierley Hill.

A seated exercise class, refreshments and a buffet lunch will also be on offer at the event, organised by Age UK Dudley and Age Alliance.

It will run at Brierley Hill Methodist Church in Bank Street from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Thursday, September 28.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, Dudley's cabinet member for adult social care, said: “Older people are especially vulnerable to loneliness and isolation, and it can lead to depression and have a serious effect on health.

“According to Age UK, more than two million people in England over the age of 75 live alone. More than a million older people say they go over a month without speaking to a neighbour, friend or family member.

“We welcome this event as an effort to combat loneliness and isolation, and would urge older people to come along for all or part of the day.”

Anyone who wishes to attend must book a place by calling Fynelle Wishart at Age UK Dudley on 01384 354508.
