A ‘SUBSTANTIAL’ water main burst has caused a main Halesowen road to be closed to traffic for at least five days.

The burst in Grange Hill last night (Thursday, October 5) has led the road to be blocked between Manor Way and Illey Lane.

Dudley Council expect the highway to be closed until “at least” Wednesday, October 11, due to the extent of the repairs needed to be carried out.

To allow South Staffordshire Water to complete the repairs to the water main and also to the highway structure, the road has had to be closed to vehicles.

Traffic heading from Worcestershire towards Dudley will be diverted via Illey Lane, Kitwell Lane, Wood lane, Woodgate Lane, Lye Avenue, Lye Close Lane, Lapal Lane South and Manor Way.

While heading from Dudley to Worcestershire, vehicles will have to go via Manor Way, Uffmoor Lane, St Kenelms Road and Bromsgrove Road.
